Visit to the Boulogne-sur-Mer construction site

Last week, Wave-Op organized a technical tour of the demonstrator on the Carnot - Le Portel dike in Boulogne-sur-Mer, in the presence of partners, local players and project teams.

A key stage in project deployment

This meeting marks an important first step in the deployment phase of the project, after more than 6 years of research and development, engineering and preparation. It provided an opportunity to discuss the technical challenges, the progress of the project and the next phases in the development of this innovative wave-powered solution.

The Wave-Op demonstrator aims to validate a model of port infrastructure capable of combining civil engineering, renewable energy production and integration with existing structures, by harnessing wave energy directly at the heart of the structure.

A group project in the maritime environment

The site visit was a highlight, rich in technical exchanges and sharing. It focused in particular on the recently delivered flaps, the central components of the system, measuring 5.5 m by 7.75 m, weighing 14 tonnes each, and dimensioned to efficiently capture wave energy at the heart of the modules.

The Wave-Op team would like to thank all participants, construction and engineering teams, and project partners for their involvement. This milestone represents a structuring step before the continuation of the work and the phases to come.
